Hillside has a long history of being a community of people who love God, love their city and desire to be a church that is relevant with an outward focus where all are welcomed.
Hillside Community Church traces its roots to a group of couples that were attending First Baptist Church of Pomona in 1979. As they began to move their families to the Rancho Cucamonga area, they sensed a need for new churches in a rapidly growing community. By 1980, Pastor David Burns accepted the call to be the senior pastor.
The 51 charter members met at Chaffey College until the ten-acre site was secured as Hillside’s future home. In the mid 1990’s a multi-use worship facility and sport fields were constructed. After over thirty years of faithful service, Dave Burns retired and Hillside selected Aaron McRae to serve as their new senior pastor.
The common thread that continues to be present in the story of Hillside is that God is at work in a profound way thorough the people of Hillside Community Church. The vision to reach 500,000 people in our community who don’t know Jesus and change the world with the hope of the gospel hasn’t changed. The best is yet to come and there is no greater time than now to make this vision into a movement.
Hillside’s pastors and staff are committed to humbly serving
the community with their gifts and talents.
